SCDC was founded in 1979 by a group of avid divers who needed to find a way to dive regularly in Hong Kong waters despite the limited resources available locally. Established as an overseas branch of the British Sub-Aqua Club (BSAC), SCDC quickly built a community of divers dedicated to excellence and the importance of training for safe diving. SCDC continues to offer ongoing BSAC training from novice to advanced divers and maintaining the latest safety and diving approaches and techniques.
As a social as well as a diving club, we try to find any opportunity to celebrate something and over the years we’ve :
Celebrated the Last Dive on the Empire 1997 mark the handover of Hong Kong from the United Kingdom back to the People’s Republic of China on July 1.
In 2004 we celebrated the Club’s Silver Jubilee (25 years of diving in Hong Kong) with a series of dives, parties, and overseas expeditions that included the Philippines and an expedition to Palau.
In 2013 we celebrated the 50th anniversary of BSAC by having 50 divers dive 50 minutes each.
And every May 23rd we celebrate the clubs birthday and another great year of diving in Hong Kong!

SCDC LOGOS THROUGHOUT TIME
In the picture should be the participants of the 2nd International Workshop on the Marine Flora & Fauna of Hong Kong & South China. It was taken in April 1986 at Wu Kai Sa Camp on a week/2 weeks' study of underwater creatures jointly organized by HKU and China's marine scientists/biologists. This was the group picture taken after the completion of the project. SCDC and other diving club members' role was to help to collect samples of various creatures.
